The act that placed first in each category received 17 points. In any event, here is how things panned out. Had we reviewed these songs after rehearsals these results may have been significantly different. Russia, for instance, blew many of us away the moment we heard it live. Therefore these rankings and assessments do not account for rehearsals (which you can watch here), staging, or live vocals. Our fan poll was also open long before anyone saw the acts live. First of all, all of the songs were reviewed by the Wiwi Jury using official music videos. After combining the results of our JESC 2015 fan poll and the results of the Wiwi Jury, we are pleased to announce that Malta’s Destiny Chukunyere has emerged as our winner. But, as always, we’ve attempted to look into a crystal ball and provide some kind of forecast for who will win JESC 2015. Destiny MitchellSprints/Jumps - 2022 (SOPHOMORE) Finished ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.53m at the Ted Nelson Invitational 2021 (FRESHMAN). The quality of songs is, in our opinion, stronger than some of the recent editions of the adult Eurovision. This year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest is simply too close to call.

I think almost everyone is familiar with “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin. Without further ado, let’s get motivated! 1. Be sure to check the lyrics for anything that might not make sense (for example, you can’t get the message of Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” if you don’t understand that she’s rich). Second, music is a part of today’s culture, and that means that many songs will have cultural elements that are unfamiliar to your students. Give your students a head start by making sure they’ll understand all the words that they hear. There’s no need to throw new words into the mix. Listening to a song for language purposes is challenging enough. In fact, if you play an upbeat song, but then only focus on something like irregular verbs, it might backfire on you and demotivate your students.īecause of that, it’s a good idea to review any unfamiliar vocabulary with your class before listening to the song. Sure, they all contain potential lessons on grammar, sentence structure or vocabulary, but that’s not the main focus here. When you use these songs in class, keep a couple of things in mind.įirst of all, the main reason I’ve chosen these songs is that they’re motivational. Musicality's audition in Episode 1102 consisted of singing One Direction's "Night Changes" as a group. Musicality received a grant from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in July 2016 and was honored at the Grants Banquet at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, CA. Musicality also has an active YouTube channel where they have gained a fanbase for their covers. Musicality has been featured on NBC, Good Day Chicago, Chicago Tonight, and on a 97.9 The Loop radio jingle. Highlights include performances at: Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, Chicago City Hall, Merchandise Mart, The Chicago Public Schools Board of Education, O'Hare International Airport, Midway International Airport, Soldier Field, GLEE Live Promotional Event, Dwyane Wade's Chicago Has Talent at the Chicago Theater, Hilton Chicago, Sheraton Grand, and the Dolby Theater. Musicality has performed at countless events, such as concerts, graduations, cotillions, memorials, benefit concerts, service learning events, fundraising events, banquets, and more. The program is intense, meeting several times a week after school, and learning music, staging, and choreography at a fast pace with a focus on musical excellence. The ensemble prides itself on exploring various musical genres with the addition of theatrical staging. Dedication and professionalism are two of the most important aspects of a Musicality member. Musicality focuses more on potential instead of mere talent. Since then, Musicality has quickly grown into an elite audition-based ensemble. Despite these problems, the inexperienced group had a very successful opening season, and their first performance had excellent reviews. The premiere ensemble for Musicality was very unbalanced with few male singers. Music educator, Michael Gibson, decided to start a volunteer after-school vocal ensemble. Musicality is a group that began in 2008 after a group of students from Curie Metropolitan High School (Chicago, Illinois) expressed interest in continuing music after the spring musical had ended. Optimized copies can be used to create WebP versions (though image quality can sometimes be affected), but it is not possible to create an original copy from an optimized version of the image. Talk to one of our business continuity experts to see which solution is right for you.Note on Using Optimized Images Instead of Original Backups If your goal is to restore images to original or re-optimize to a lower compression level, then the above workaround using already-optimized copies will not work. But if you feel that your computer system and its data are far too important to your company to have to wait more than a day to get back in business, then image-based backup is well worth the increased investment. If you have a small amount of data you want to preserve and don’t mind waiting a full day or more to restore your system to operating capacity, then it’s perfectly fine to consider file/folder backup. Other factors, such as depth and breadth of data and maximum acceptable downtime also need to enter into the equation. When considering what type of backup to use for your business, don’t let cost dictate your decision. Consider the Real Cost of Backing Up and Restoring Your Business Computer System This will allow you to get up and running much faster than selecting the files and folders you need. In a worst-case scenario, you can transfer the image backup from one city to another. That means that if your PC or server is destroyed, you can replace it with a newer one and quickly put the backup on there. Image backups are the best for a bare metal or equipment upgrade restore. Image-based backups are by far the superior choice for complete and swift recovery of data, and are the backups that Lieberman Technologies recommends. While this approach requires a larger storage capacity and the necessary bandwidth to move these larger files to the cloud, not to mention a greater expense, it also provides the most complete backup and the fastest restore. This allows for a move to new hardware and a swift restore of all information. In the event of a data disaster, a business’ entire data set is preserved. Image-based backups are full hard drive images, consisting of the block by block contents of a hard drive. Image Backup Has Many Benefitsįor a more complete and recommended option, consider image-based backup. They also don’t work well for business use because it is difficult to standardize the access control, version control, or uptime support that a business IT system requires. They save specific files and folders but typically aren’t up to par for business use in their free version. Some common examples of consumer-level backup programs are Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and Microsoft One Drive. This type of restore only restores the files and folders selected for backup any others lost in a data disaster are simply that – lost. Once these installations are complete, you can restore the files and folders themselves. This means installing the operating system, software applications, and the software used to back up the files and folders. With a file/folder backup, you must start from scratch to restore your system to working order. However, should a disaster occur, the restoration of data can take much, much longer than anticipated. The total backup is much smaller in size, needs less capacity, and costs less overall. This is a “selective” backup, where the business chooses which files and folders should be backed up. Typically, such a system restores a lost file or folder on an otherwise healthy system. In this type of setup, the smallest unit that you would be able to restore is a file or folder. One option is a file/folder-based backup. Regardless if the backup is in pieces or as a whole, you’ll need time to grab all of those pieces or download that whole backup in order to get up and running again. The options of how and where to back up your data are as important as the restore process. But you may not realize that you have options in how that backup is performed. You’re probably aware that a consistent backup schedule is the best plan for your data in your disaster recovery. Some full-time employees might be paid on an hourly basis, while others receive a salary. Generally, full-time employees work for the same days or hours each week. While the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) doesn’t define “full-time,” full-time typically includes a work schedule that is at least 40 hours per week. Here are some examples of employee work schedules you may want to implement - depending on your business needs, industry and the availability of your employees Full-time schedules Streamlined schedules that are easy for them to understand and require minimal changes build a culture of respect and set a positive example for time management. I’m visiting Gatlinburg for the second time this year – already more than I’ve been in the last few years. And remember that gentle breeze? Its turned into a downright cold wind. Devoid of sunlight, the center of the tunnel swallows any light – including the flashlight on my iPhone that seems so bright when I’m looking for a dropped earring. I didn’t think there was much to the tunnel, until I was in its belly. A short walk up a slight incline will take you to the deceptively-long tunnel. A gentle breeze tickles your arms and makes you grateful for the sun’s warm rays beaming on your scalp. Not many birds are out yet, so the only sounds you hear are leaves underfoot and, of course, my breathing. Its late March, around 60 degrees and sunny. Scene: Another tranquil place in the Smokies. Not that I seek out controversy for the sake of it but it does make for a more interesting plot. I don’t remember ever actually running around the newsroom screaming, “If it BLEEDS, it LEADS!!!” but knowing me, its entirely within the realm of possibility. Or maybe it isn’t really a coincidence, its just a throw back to my days of being a newsie. In a complete coincidence, I’m bringing you another tale of controversy in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s history. Residents of the state fought with the Federal Government until 2010 to receive compensation for the unfinished road. Popularly called “The Road to Nowhere,” North Carolina Highway 228 construction was halted in the 1970s due to environmental concerns. Don’t do it! Otherwise, this recipe is great for tweaking. I was induced to use pre-julienned carrots instead of grated cause they were organic and marked down. I substituted whatever bulgur is for quinoa and added veggie broth and it turned out perfect!! Next time I think i’ll add celery. Use it with eggs for breakfast and it's bomb!! My go to weekly meal prep. I add in some veg stock as I use lentils or quinoa. Love this!! Made it for meat eaters and they say it's delicious. OMG- thank you!!!! So easy, inexpensive, and most importantly- delicious! This has def made our menu!!! My family and I are moving to a plant-based diet. This recipe received zero votes at my works chili cook off. Daughter loved it <- 2 bowls kind of loved it. Heavy on the carrot and light on the onion just due to what was in the fridge. edits include sweet rather than hot peppers and quinoa rather than bulgur (gluten ya know). I leave Out the carrots, double the garlic and add canned green chilis, chipotle chilis and whatever fresh peppers I may Have on hand. My favorite chili BY FAR! Even my meat-loving husband and neighbors couldn’t believe this was vegan. It's never too runny so it makes a great chili dog the day after. I also add habanero and sometimes Serrano peppers. I sub puffed turmeric couscous for the bulgur (had no idea what it was when I first read this). My go-to chili recipe for several years now. This is the best vegan chilli I have ever had!! Even my none vegan husband gave it two thumbs up!! This recipe won my company chili cook off…colorful Colorado maybe unlike Missouri? I always return to this chilli, it's fab and even the meat eaters in the family enjoy it.Īlso, if you've not tried it, have a dollop of houmous on the side. This recipe was excerpted from ‘The Vermont Farm Table Cookbook’ by Tracey Medeiros. Add bulgur and remaining ingredients and cook until beans are tender, about 1 hour more. Bring to a boil and cook about 1 hour, topping off with more water as needed to keep the beans submerged. If you’d like to start with dried beans, soak 1⅓ cups dried beans overnight, then drain and add to the pot after the garlic, along with 4 cups water. You could also swap the beans for other types, like white beans or pinto beans, if you prefer them. If you want to accommodate a broader range of dietary preferences, you can swap the bulgur for quinoa or even some finely chopped sweet potato. Like most soups and stews, this easy vegan chili freezes well and is even better if you make it ahead and reheat it the next day.īecause this recipe includes bulgur, it’s not gluten-free. While this recipe is designed to be made on a stovetop, it also works well in a slow cooker for a hands-off approach or Instant Pot to cut down on the cook time for busy weeknights. Top each serving with fresh herbs and a sprinkling of vegan cheese or a vegan sour cream substitute if you like. A batch of vegan cornbread muffins for dunking or some tortilla chips to scoop up everything works well to round out the meal. The result is thick and hearty if you prefer your chili a bit soupier, you can add a touch of vegetable broth or water. This version is also quick and easy thanks to a base of canned beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce (not jarred pasta sauce). A great vegan chili recipe is perfect for any time of year and any kind of eater-with the right mix of beans, chiles, veggies, and spices (and a bit of hearty grain to bulk up everything ), you’ll end up with a dish that even the most dedicated meat eaters will be thrilled with. Look online or check out the Yellow Pages to find a local fiber store, yarn store or spinning guild. Personally, I find it interesting and worthwhile to find, repair and use old wheels, but it’s not always an easy task for someone just learning to spin. If purchasing a used wheel, I recommend getting one that the seller has utilized recently many antique wheels are available, but most are in need of repair, misaligned, or sometimes merely decorative. As with anything, you can spend as much or as little money as you like. If you’re interested in purchasing a wheel, expect to spend between $200 and $700 on a new, high-quality wheel. You also might want to invest in a spinning wheel - or, if you’re lucky, you may have inherited one from a relative. There are numerous online tutorials and much information available on how to both make and use a variety of drop spindles. There are even drop spindles made from recycled compact discs, although I don’t recommend these because they are too light and difficult to keep spinning steadily, which can be frustrating for a beginner.Ī better option is to look for a slightly heavier spindle made of wood, which will still be relatively inexpensive yet easier to use. You can purchase an excellent drop spindle for less than $30, or make one for less than that. Many people begin spinning with a drop spindle, because they are inexpensive, easy to make, lightweight, and they don’t take up much room. A drop spindle is essentially a weighted stick or dowel that is spun by hand and used to twist the fibers. To learn to spin, you need two things - some fiber to spin, and a wheel or drop spindle upon which to spin it.ĭrop spindles are the oldest and simplest tools used for spinning fiber into yarn. It’s a fulfilling hobby and pastime that adds clothes to our closets, takes us back to our roots, and lightens the load on our pocketbook all at the same time. Become proficient at this skill, and you’ll convert animal fiber to yarn, then into clothes for all seasons. However, like many crafts, it really isn’t - it simply requires a bit of knowledge and a little practice. Spinning can, at first glance, seem difficult. Many kinds of natural fibers can be spun: plant fibers such as cotton, nettle, linen, hemp, yucca and animal fibers such as wool, alpaca, angora, mohair, yak or buffalo. “Spinning” is simply twisting fibers together so they make a strong, usable cord. Spinning natural fibers into yarn is an age-old art, practiced by people in nearly every culture.
